Contemporary and Historical Comments

One copy of The life of David Hume, Esq. written by himself. (London: Printed for W. Strahan, and T. Cadell ...), 1777 (B1497 A3 1777 Copy 3) has pasted in contemporary and early newspaper and journal clippings referring to Hume and a cheque written by David Hume, with a covering note from Hume's grandnephew, tipped in. The texts are not always easy to read and have been transcribed. Some of these texts may be unrecorded and unknown and may be of interest to students of Hume.
