Monday 28^th[.] Only 2 Dores in two nets[.] Sent La Viollette to Mamaoui with 4 Pieces of nets – and the red Knife Indian to draw the fish[.]

Tuesday 29^th[.] About 1 ’OClock the Red Knife arrived with 11 pieces of fish and went off immediately[.] Gave the 7 fish to Piché & the Ladies – when I say the Ladies I do not include the Men's women – these are not Ladies but Trollops[.]

Wednesday 30^th[.] The Crees traded in the last Drinking match as follows viz^t 28 skins furs – 76 Skins dried meat – 33 skins pounded meat – 70 Skins of fresh meat – 12 Green Orignal Skins – 12 Ditto Dressed – 10 Cotes de Boeuf – 3 Skins of Grease – 2 leather Shirts – 4 old Guns for 18 Skins – 1 Linen Shirt for 4 D^o[.] The Red Knife Indian arrived with 23 pieces of fish[.] Gave Piché and the Ladies their Good share of this fish & divided the remainder among the Trollops[.]

Thursday 31^st July. The Red Knife Indian brought us 24 pieces of fish from Laviollette[.] Gave the prey of them as usual[.] Piché always Complains to me of the hard ship of having the Molly Gripes Continually owing to eating fish – a Common food he says at this Mortné Endroit[.] He often curses from the bottom of his heart both the place and the food and I dare Say the Bourgeois though I do not hear him[.] It is with regret he reflects on the few times he used to have of it during the Summer Season at Slave Lake where he was his own Master and Chose his own meat while here he neither is master nor eats meat without Choosing[.] Upon duly weighing them I found that Pichés Complaints were Just and resolved on redressing them[.] I also considered the hardship for a Man of Pichés Kidney not to say his Stomach to have no other dainties than fish to satisfy his Cravings with the Grand Societé who only give him 500 Livres yearly while the Potties would give him 1000 and the Same boarding[.] From these Considerations I gave Piché 10^lb of Grease and 20^lb of pounded Meat to eat by way of Desert after his fish or by way of Cure for the Molly Gripes[.] Who Knows but the Company may gain this small donation back again with Interest for it is well Known that
