Do[,] 2 Loup-Cerviers, 3 foxes, 2 fishers, 1 Bear Skin, 1 kitt, and 28 Wolves – total 67½ Pluès in good order[.] Vast numbers of Buffaloes quite near the Fort[.] La Fontaine & I kill'd a Cow within half a mile of the House at the Prairie a la Paille, Poitras kill'd one on the plain above the Hill[.] Exceeding cold this & the preceeding day[.] Wednesday 7th[.] Still Cold[.] Faignan kill'd a cow & a Bull[.] Two assininibs and a woman came in with very little[.] Sent by them a Fm Tobacco to the Grand Diable's son Cato[.] Thursday 8th[.] Faignan killd a cow & Falardeau 2[.] Seven men came from River Tremblante & River La Coquille for Pieces & Brought letters from Messrs Grant & Thorburn[.] Friday 9th[.] Equip'd the seven Strangers & added three to their number making in all ten men[.] Cold weather[.] [W]rote to Messrs Grant & Thorburn & Belleau[.] Saturday 10th[.] Sent off ten pieces for the upper Posts[.] Severely cold[.] Falardeau & Ls Houle kill'd each a Cow[.] Sunday 11th[.] Falardeau kill'd a Cow Faignan a Stirk[.] [V]ery cold[.] Monday 12th[.] Falardeau kill'd 3 Cows[.] [N]ot quite so cold[.] Tuesday 13th[.] Faignan kill'd 2 Cows, Gave Falardeau 4 pluis Ammn[.] Wednesday 14th[.] Faignan kill'd a Cow[.] Two young Assininibs who left their Lodges this morning & brought a few wolves[.] Thursday 15th[.] The Young men went away[.] Falardeau kill'd 2 Cows [,] gave Faigneau 3 pluis Ammunition[.] I kill'd a Bull[.] Friday 16th[.] Falardeau kill'd 3 Cows, Faignan a Cow & a Calf[.] Saturday 17th[.] Sent nine men for the meat of yesterdays Hunt[.] Gave Falardeau 3½ Pluès Ammunition[.] There fell some snow in the afternoon with a considerable westerly wind[.] Sunday 18th[.] The mildest day this year[.] Faignan kill'd 4 Cows[.] Monday 19th[.] Another mild day[.] Faignan kill'd four more Cows[.] Tuesday 20th[.] The pere du Grimaceu – Sent for tobacco & came soon after getting it[.] He made a present of 10 Wolves & 35 ps Meat & Grease[.] Gave in return to him a large keg[.] Faignan kill'd Cows, Ls Houle 2, & Jos Falardeau 2 Cows & a Calf[.] Wednesday 21st[.] Pere du Grimau traded[.] Kékékogouine in the evening & paid his Credit of 10 Skins & made a present 1 Buff.
