in short there is Six quarts missing of the keg & Six Large knives wanting in his load[.] The whole keg would have been taken from him by the Foutreau and band who got enraged with drinking pure High wines had it not been for the Gendre de Foutreau a good Indian who hurried Garreau & Alain (the JTueur de Bobelet) of in the night en fuyards leaving the girl as well as the Rum & knives in quiet possession of the Indians[.]

Tuesday 6^th[.] S^t Dennis & Charbonneau came from Tabault's with 21 La: Beaver, 16 Cub. D^o[,] 2 Loup-Cerviers, 3 foxes, 2 fishers, 1 Bear Skin, 1 kitt, and 28 Wolves – total 67½ Pluès in good order[.] Vast numbers of Buffaloes quite near the Fort[.] La Fontaine & I kill'd a Cow within half a mile of the House at the Prairie a la Paille, Poitras kill'd one on the plain above the Hill[.] Exceeding cold this & the preceeding day[.]

Wednesday 7^th[.] Still Cold[.] Faignan kill'd a cow & a Bull[.] Two assininib^s and a woman came in with very little[.] Sent by them a F^m Tobacco to the Grand Diable's son Cato[.]

Thursday 8^th[.] Faignan killd a cow & Falardeau 2[.] Seven men came from River Tremblante & River La Coquille for Pieces & Brought letters from Mess^rs Grant & Thorburn[.]

Friday 9^th[.] Equip'd the seven Strangers & added three to their number making in all ten men[.] Cold weather[.] [W]rote to Messr^s Grant & Thorburn & Belleau[.]

Saturday 10^th[.] Sent off ten pieces for the upper Posts[.] Severely cold[.] Falardeau & L^s Houle kill'd each a Cow[.]

Sunday 11^th[.] Falardeau kill'd a Cow Faignan a Stirk[.] [V]ery cold[.]

Monday 12^th[.] Falardeau kill'd 3 Cows[.] [N]ot quite so cold[.]

Tuesday 13^th[.] Faignan kill'd 2 Cows, Gave Falardeau 4 pluis Ammⁿ[.]

Wednesday 14^th[.] Faignan kill'd a Cow[.] Two young Assininib^s came in who left their Lodges this morning & brought a few wolves[.]

Thursday 15^th[.] The Young men went away[.] Falardeau kill'd 2 Cows & Bull[,] gave Faigneau 3 pluis Ammunition[.] I kill'd a Bull[.]

Friday 16^th[.] Falardeau kill'd 3 Cows, Faignan a Cow & Bull a Calf[.]

Saturday 17^th[.] Sent nine men for the meat of yesterdays Hunt[.] Gave Falardeau 3½ Pluès Ammunition[.] There fell some snow in the afternoon with a considerable westerly wind[.]

Sunday 18^th[.] The mildest day this year[.] Faignan kill'd 4 Cows[.]

Monday 19^th[.] Another mild day[.] Faignan kill'd four more Cows[.]

Tuesday 20^th[.] The pere du Grimaceu – Sent for tobacco & came soon after getting it[.] He made a present of 10 Wolves & 35 p^s Meat & Grease[.] Gave in return to him a large keg[.] Faignan kill'd 2 Cows, L^s Houle 2, & Jo^s Falardeau 2 Cows & a Calf[.]

Wednesday 21^st[.] Pere du Grimau traded[.] Kékékogouine came in the evening & paid his Credit of 10 Skins & made a present 1 Buff. Robe & 26 p^s meat & grease[.] Gave him 7 Gall^s[.]

Thursday 22^nd[.] Pere du Grimaceu went away[.] Sent Petit Jean & S^t Pierre with him with a Small keg for Tabault's Furrs[.] Tied up 1½ Bales Furrs[.]

Friday 23^rd[.] Kékékogouine traded and went his way[.] Sent by him to the grand nez &c campd at the Lakes a F^m Tobacco & 3 Gall^s Rum[.]
