Letter from Charles F. Martin to Wilder Penfield, February 7, 1929.
Date:
1929-02-07
Description:
This is a typewritten letter from Charles F. Martin to Wilder Penfield dated February 7, 1929. In the letter Dr. Martin states that Dr. Penfield should not be discouraged by a letter which Dr. Penfield had forwarded to Dr. Archibald. The forwarded letter was from Dr. Richard M. Pearce, head of the medical grants branch of the Rockefeller Foundation. Dr. Pearce had informed Dr. Penfield that the foundation would not be financially supporting Dr. Penfield’s recent proposal to establish a neurological institute in Montreal. Dr. Archibald suggests that there could be other ways of approaching the idea of establishing a neurological institute, and believes that Dr. Penfield will eventually receive support for such a proposal from McGill’s Board of Governors as Dr. Penfield’s new department of Neuro-Pathology becomes more established. Dr. Archibald also suggests that they discuss the topic in person later in the week.
