This is a typewritten cover letter from Wilder Penfield to Charles F. Martin dated February 5, 1929. In the letter Dr. Penfield indicates that he is enclosing both a letter he wrote to Dr. Richard M. Pearce, head of the medical grants branch of the Rockefeller Foundation, as well Dr. Pearce’s response. The letter to Dr. concerned Dr. Penfield’s initial proposal to establish a neurological institute in Montreal, and whether the Rockefeller Foundation would be willing to help fund its construction. As Dr. Penfield indicates in his comment concerning Dr. Pearce’s response, the foundation was not willing to support the idea at the time.
