A handwritten letter, dated January 25, 1928, from C.F. Martin to Wilder Penfield. In the letter Dr. Martin explains the process of approving the appointment of Drs. Penfield and Cone to the faculty. He explains the equipment readily available to Dr. Penfield and the plan to acquire more if necessary. Martin also adds that Mrs. Penfield “will be very welcome in all our houses."

The last page of the letter consists of crossed-out drafts of a letter, written by Dr. Penfield, where he accepts the position offered by McGill.
