This is a typewritten letter from Wilder Penfield to McGill University’s Principal, Frank Cyril James. In the letter Penfield justifies the need for expansion at the Montreal Neurological Institute, citing both the increased numbers of military patients, the general increase in the number of non-military patients, as well as the increased need for laboratories and other facilities to meet the institute’s clinical and research needs. He offers some specifics about what sections of the institute need to be expanded and how they could be accommodated by the construction of a new wing. The letter is dated July 13, 1944.
