Overcrowding of the Montreal Neurological Institute and the Care of Patients from the Combatant Services, February 8, 1943.
This is a typewritten report by Wilder Penfield entitled “The Overcrowding of the Montreal Neurological Institute and the Care of Patients from the Combatant Services.” This report concerns the overcrowding situation at the MNI and possible solutions to this problem. Dr. Penfield suggests either the construction of an annex to the existing institute building, or the creation of a neurosurgical ward in a proposed Military Hospital. He writes that, should the Government continue to avoid dealing with the problem, McGill University would be forced to release a public statement stating that the institute will start to refuse to accept service patients due to issues of both cost and a lack of space. This report is dated February 8, 1943.
