Cochran, Andrew William. Eight letters to Roderick Mackenzie, 1823-1837. An electronic transcription. MFTP #0004

I think you must by this time be ready to repent of having encouraged me to write to you; but when it has apparently brought upon you this long prosy letter; but it is not your fault, for you would have had the letter at any rate.

Believe me ever My Dear Sir

Your sincere friend & Servt

AW Cochran

Poor Captn Freer besides the loss of his fortune suffered last year the same affliction as I did in the loss of Mrs Wolff and of his eldest child by hishe present lady; a charming little thing[.] She died in November of the Scarlet fever[.] I do not know how his pecuniary losses have wound up; but I hope not so total a wreck as was believed at first[.] Neither of his Sons has have yet returned, nor do I know where they are. He appears to have recovered his good spirits.
