Dr. William Hunter (1718-1783) was an eminent Scottish physician, anatomist and lecturer who practiced in London, specializing in obstetrics. He was professor of anatomy at the Royal Academy, and wrote the major work "The Anatomy of the Human Gravid Uterus, Exhibited in Figures" (1774).
