Dr. Joaquin Albarran (1860-1912) was born in Cuba and practiced medecine in France. He was a surgeon and urologist in Paris at the Hôpital Necker, where he made important contributions particularly in the area of urinary tract diseases. He wrote seminal works on testicular and renal tumours, and was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Medicine.
"Walery" was the professional name used by the commercial portrait photogrpaher, Count Stanislaus Ostrorog (Polish, active 1880s-1920s, London).
