Arrivée des Américans à Paris, Aux Invalides, postcard (front).
This is the front of a black and white photograph postcard issued to mark the arrival of American troops in Paris on July 4, 1917. The image shows a line of non-military and military officials standing in the Cour d'honneur at L'Hôtel national des Invalides (Les Invalides) in Paris. French Marshal Joseph Jacques Césaire Joffre (formerly the Commander-in-Chief of French forces on the Western Front) and American General John Joseph Pershing (Commander of the American Expeditionary Force), both of whom are wearing military uniforms, can be seen talking to each other in the middle of the line of officials. A crowd of civilians and other military personnel can be seen behind the line of officials.
