Les Monstres des Cathedrales No. 2, Francois Joseph, postcard (front).
This is a black and white photograph postcard of a gargoyle from Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris that has been altered to have the gargoyle resemble Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria. The gargoyle is depicted devouring another creature. The text which accompanies the image describes the emperor as “The voracious sinister one, who not content to silence Boznia, Herzegovina, Trentin and Trieste, would like to devour Serbia.”
