Injured Doctor's Stoicism, newspaper article.
A newspaper clipping with the title "Injured Doctor's Stoicism.” The clipping is glued to another blank sheet of paper. Much of the newspaper article consists of quotations of an American woman, Miss Edna Hale, who had been a passenger on the S.S. Sussex when it was torpedoed by a German U-boat on March 24, 1916. In the article Miss Hale details Wilder Penfield’s condition following the attack, including that he had suffered a broken leg. It also recounts how Penfield’s advice and actions saved two people's lives, an Edouard L. Maubourgeuet and a French girl. Miss Hale also describes the death of one passenger, a man from India.
