Eights Week, photograph.

A black and white photograph of Eights Week (Summer Eights) regatta races on the Isis (River Thames) in Oxford during 1921. Numerous punt boats filled with passengers can be seen in the photograph, as well as several college barges at the far bank of the river. As is suggested in the photograph’s caption, the image may have been taken while the Penfields were visiting with Marshall Fulton, another American Rhodes Scholar who, like Penfield, both lived at Merton College and studied physiology with Sherrington. This is the third photograph on page 42 from the 1919 - 1927 photo album compiled by Wilder Penfield.
