Wilder Penfield photo album 1913-1916, page 46.
Description:
Page 46 of the 1913-1916 photo album created by Wilder Penfield. Features a picture of the S.S. Sussex docked in the Harbour of Boulogne, after being torpedoed on March 24, 1916. This photo is a close up of the torpedoed stern. Wilder Penfield has annotated the photograph to indicate where he and some of his fellow American travellers - Elizabeth Baldwin, George Crocker, and himself - were standing when the torpedo hit. Several people are still standing on the ship, and more are standing along the dock next to it.
