Water fowl may be included under these following Species – The Swan, Bustard, Grey and white Geese, Loons in variety, with Ducks and a few Snipe. A few Sea Plover and fresh water Gulls and Cranes. None of all which make a long stay here, either in passing or returning. We see no vermin at this Post, owing probably to the marshy Soil. This Country is well stocked with the Rein Deer, and a few Moose Deer; and farther off the Musk Buffaloe is numerous. To hunt all which the Natives make use of the Bow and arrows, and the snare principally. Those who can afford Guns and ammunition reap peculiar benefit.
