MFTP #0028 41 Teusday 2d June 1801[.] I Sent Boiselle & Petit Jean off as soon as day light appeared[.] I Sent back a keg of H.Wines, one half of which I sent Perigné word to keep[,] I likewise sent back the Small Keg of powder I brought from Alexandria[.] I wrote Mr Harmon Pr Boiselle[.] Mr McGillis, & I embarked together & we got against a Strong head wind to the entrance of the Bark Island channels[.] [I]t rained all this night, with Thunder & lightening. Wednessday 3d[.] Raining & blowing all day, we could not Stir[.] Thursday 4th[.] We left our encampment early & got in the evening to the Entrance of the Middle River of Fort Dauphin where Mr Ferguson Left a note at Pointe à la Biche (where by the by I ordered the Canoes to meet me,) to inform me he was, but we found nobody here[.] [W]e made a large fire & fired off some guns in case they might be gone to the Point au Selle on the opposite side of the Lake[.] Somebody answered our Guns, but I was in hopes all night of Seeing any of my people that might be there across[.] My foreman is very unwell to night[.] [W]e gave a Qts. of Syrup to the men to eat with the Pimican[.] [40] L E G E N D : |
