Description:
Full-length portrait of Napoleon in coronation robes, holding a sceptre topped by an eagle. He looks straight out at the viewer. He wears a rich embroidered ermine-lined robe and is crowned with laurels. Next to him on a stool rest a crowned globe and a hand of justice. Behind him the imperial throne is also richly decorated, with an 'N' on the back. A heavy curtain provides the backdrop. The carpet is decorated with bees, symbol of the new Empire. The border features 'N's and a number of imperial military insignia.
