Description:
Bust portrait of Napoleon, wearing his military uniform and decorations of the Legion of Honour. He is looking out at the viewer. This is based on David's 1812 full-length portrait of Napoleon in his study. The portrait is framed by military insignia, an imperial eagle, flowers, a papal tiara, a sceptre. The letters "BUO AP" can be seen below. In the background a fort is visible through the smoke. The publication date of October 1815 is shortly after Napoleon's second abdication.
