Waist-length portrait of Napoleon, wearing his military uniform and decoarations of the Legion of Honour. His right hand is tucked inside his shirt in the traditional pose. He is looking out at the viewer. This is based on David's 1812 full-length portrait of Napoleon in his study. The portrait is framed by a mock thin-line floral frame, hung with a ribbon at the top.
