Description:
The Roi de Rome in his cradle. Fruit and gold pieces fall on him, representing the wealth and abundance brought about by the Empire, as symbolised by the cross of the Legion of Honour. Napoleon II clutches an olive sprig, traditional symbol of peace. The hilt of a sword is visible on his left side. The winds bringing about a great future are blowing on him. In the foreground, a black eagle holds the King of Rome's crown in his beak. The cradle is decorated with a bas relief showing Justice among other virtues.
