Description:

This engraving by C. Normand shows the painting before its additions. At the battle of Austerlitz, Napoleon had given orders that the wounded were not to be removed from the battlefield before the battle was over. Valhubert was wounded and would not let his men take him away, even though he was an officer. Later died of his wounds.
