Description:
Napoleon, mounted, talks to his officers and points, from a mound in the centre foreground. Smoke rises from the battlefield below, the French troops formations can be clearly seen. On the extreme left foreground, a wounded soldier is being tended to, perhaps Desaix, who was mortally wounded on the day.
