Description:

Bust portrait of Antoine Barnave, covered in a cloak, looking slightly away to his right. He was a Jacobin, and wrote to Marie-Antoinette while at Varennes, trying to convince Marie-Antoinette to convert to a constitutional monarchy; these letters were used to convict Barnave of treason and execute him. He left a history of the French Revolution, still considered a major work.
