Description:

A canonball explodes at Bonaparte's feet. His soldiers around him are alarmed, but he replies calmly : "don't worry, the canonball that will kill me is not yet made." Though the illustration is placed here during the campaign in Egypt, this incident is said to have taken place at the battle of Montereau in 1814.
