Bust portrait of Napoleon, looking slightly left, wearing the bicorne. A lettered plaque below the oval bears the title and verse. Above the oval a laurel wreath, symbol of victory. Napoleon encouraged the image of himself as not only a man of war but also a thinker. Based on Appiani's portrait.
