Description:

Full-length portrait of Bernadotte in outdoor setting. He wears military uniform: sash, epaulettes, gold leaves, plumed hat, sword, medals. He holds the baton of the Maréchal d'Empire which he was named in 1804. In the mountainous landscape of the background troops file along a winding road as far as the eye can see. Loosely based on Kinson's portrait.
