Description:

Napoleon arrives in Grenoble after his return from Elba and is welcomed enthusiastically by his soldiers. Napoleon declared to his men : "Your emperor is here, if anyone wishes to kill him, do so now." The movement towards Napoleon and the emotion displayed are reminiscent of the various depictions of oaths.
