Description:

Bust portrait of Count Platoff, heavily decorated. Platoff was leader, or Hetman, of the Don Cossacks and commander of their cavalry. His tactic of using the harsh Russian winter to beat the superior French forces during the 1812 French Campaign in Russia, made him famous.
