Dr. John Hunter, M.D. F.R.S. (d. 1809) was a Scottish physician, lecturer and medical writer who was Physician to the Army. He wrote a volume on diseases of the army in Jamaica, and was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society in 1786. He has often been confused with the celebrated surgeon of the same name (John Hunter, 1728-1793).
