C.W. Hufeland (1762-1836) was a German physician, pathologist, and medical writer who attained a prominent reputation in his day. He practiced as a physician and professor of pathology in Jena, Weimar, and Berlin, where he became a councillor of state. His illustrious patients included the King of Prussia and Johann Wolfgang Goethe (1749-1832).
