Dr. Herman Althof (1835-1877) was a German ophthalmologist who practiced in Germany and in New York. He devoted significant time to the German Hospital and Dispensary, and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He was one of the founders of the Ophthalmological Society of New York and of the American Ophthalmological Society.
