Dr. John Alderson (1757-1829) was a member of the Royal Medical Society of Edinburgh and resident physician at Hull, in England. His publications include "An Essay on the Nature and Origin of the Contagion of Fevers" (Hull, 1788), and a treatise on the botanical and medicinal properties of poison oak (rhus toxicodendron).
