Dr. William Aitken (1825-1892) was a British surgeon, professor, and pathologist, known for his work, "The Science and Practice of Medecine". He was sent to the Crimea as a pathologist during the war, and later acted as Secretary to the Senate of the Army Medical School. He was knighted in 1887.
