The S.S. Sussex chained to a dock, photograph.
Date:
ca. 1916
Description:
A black and white photograph of the S.S. Sussex. The image, showing the damaged ship following its being attacked by a German U-boat, appears to have been taken from the vantage point of the quay where the ship was docked. There are chains holding up the wreck and securing it to the quay. This picture was taken presumably in 1916, as the steamship was torpedoed on March 24, 1916. The photograph is glued to a piece of paper.
