| This anonymous work commemorates Wilhelm von Bode's (1845-1929) forty years of activity as the nationally prominent director of the Royal Museums in Berlin. He was even ennobled for his achievements. During his term of office, Karl Koetschau was the acting director of the Picture Gallery and Sculpture Collection at the Kaiser Friedrich Museum in Berlin (1909-13). Published in a limited edition of 115, this copy is numbered: Exemplar Nr. 8. Koetschau's ex libris by A. Uzarski of 1917 is laid in. There is a binder's stamp: H. Söchting, Buchb. Berlin, and the full morocco binding designed by Heinrich Wieynk features five raised bands with the title, dates and a stylized paisley design stamped in gilt on the spine; the decorated endpapers use a repeat pattern of the same stylized paisley. The book is also inscribed: Dr. Max Stern, X 4 (X was his code number for Festschriften), and stamped: Dominion Gallery.
