Description: George Grant Francis III, second child (and the first by her second marriage) of Marian Francis, William Osler's first cousin. Osler had a close relationship with his cousin and was especially fond of Marian's children; the family lived in Montreal, and during Osler's time there he visited them frequently. George died young, at eighteen years of age, succumbing to typhoid with secondary meningitis after a long illness. By this time, Osler had left Montreal for Philadelphia.
