Description: Revere Osler in the uniform of the Royal Field Artillery. Revere joined the RFA in 1916 after time spent in the Oxford University Officers' Training Corps (before he reached the age of majority) and the McGill Medical Unit. It was while serving with the RFA that Revere was wounded in a German attack near Ypres, Belgium. He soon died of his injuries and was buried in Flanders, Belgium. The photo has an inscription on the back in his mother Lady Osler's handwriting.
Notes: 2nd Lt. E.R. Osler R.F.A. Killed in Flanders Aug. 30th 1917 Aged 21. His Major said of him 'I never met such a character in a boy -- He was the quintessence of strength, unsordidness and purity--'" (transcribed from back of photo)
