Description: Sir William and Lady Osler with group of Canadian medical doctors, mostly graduates of McGill Medical School, at 13 Norham Gardens. The doctors -- who presumably were in London -- came to Oxford in a special car for the day of May 14. This was arranged by Dr. Donald Armour, a Canadian surgeon practicing in London. Osler treated them to a visit to the Bodleian Library, a clinic at the Radcliffe Infirmary, and a buffet lunch at his home. Sir William is in front, in the centre. Lady Osler can be seen near the back, on the right, half-hidden behind one of the visitors. Dr. Ramsay Wright, a former classmate of Osler, is at the right end of the back row, and Dr. Alan Curry is at the left end of the second last row.
Notes: Dr. H. W. Coates (McG. '01), now of Hampton Station, N.B., writes me, 9 May 1949, that "This day of the month 1914", presumably 9 May, a group of 25 to 30 Canadians, mostly McGill medical grads, went to Oxford in a special car for the day. It had been arranged by Dr. (Donald) Armour, the London surgeon from Canada. W.O. took them to the Bodleian and gave them a clinic at the Radcliffe Infirmary (primary sarcoma of the lung, &c.). Buffet lunch at 13 Norham Gardens. The only ones I recognize, besides W.O. in front and Lady O.'s head next to the girl who seems to be lighting a cigarette, and Ramsay Wright at rt. end of back row and Alan Curry, of Halifax, at left end of 2nd to last row. Alan Curry writes me, 28 Oct., 1947, confirming a case of cervical rib which showed an ulnar paralysis and change in the radial. (transcribed from note, presumably by W.W. Francis)
