Description: William Osler with a group of American physicians, paying a visit to the tomb of Pierre-Charles-Alexandre Louis, the great French physician. Osler organized the outing while in Paris at a conference on tuberculosis, and arranged for the laying of a wreath, which can been seen in this photo, behind the group. At the time this photo was taken Osler had recently taken the position of Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University. Osler can be seen slightly to the left of centre, with hat in hand. Also in the group are Arnold C. Klebs, like Osler an avid collector of medical books, and Henry Barton Jacobs, a former student of Osler's at Johns Hopkins Hospital and his former neighbour in Baltimore.
