Description: Sir William Osler at the door of the old building of New Haven Hospital (now the Yale-New Haven Hospital). Osler made his last visit to America in the spring of 1913, to deliver the Silliman Lectures at Yale University. His topic was "The Evolution of Modern Medicine", and was divided into six parts: Origin of Medicine; Greek Medicine; Mediaeval Medicine; The Renaissance and the Rise of Anatomy and Physiology; The Rise and Development of Modern Medicine; and The Rise of Preventive Medicine.
