Description: The Osler family -- William, Grace Revere, and Edward Revere -- at 7 Norham Gardens, Oxford. The Oslers moved to Oxford in May of 1905, about a month before this picture was taken, after William Osler had accepted the position of Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University. The family lived at 7 Norham Gardens until 1907, when they moved to a new home at 13 Norham Gardens. The photograph was taken by Dr. Colin Kerr Russel, who became a professor of neurology at McGill University, and had completed post-graduate studies at Johns Hopkins University with Osler. It was later collected by William Francis, the first Osler librarian, then returned to Russel in 1954 (see related letter).
Notes: Canadian Medical Association Journal 3640 UNIVERSITY STREET, MONTREAL Feb. 2, 1954 Dear Russel, I can't tell you how much relieved I am to find your picture. It was that magpie Bill Francis who acquired it just how I don't know! Anyway he is the best kind of magpie as he takes such great care of things. With kind regards Yours, etc. H. Ernest MacDermot. Returned to me by Dr. Russel 18th W.W.F. (transcribed from accompanying letter)
