The portrait was completed during Osler's last days in Baltimore, before his move to England and Oxford University.
Notes: In his library-consulting room at 1 W. Franklin st, Baltimore, taken by Thos. C. Corner, the artist, as a study for his painting of O. in the spring of 1905, & sent to me by him in 1934. W.W.F. He was thoroughly bored by the painters during his last busy (& persecuted) months in Baltimore - hence, perhaps, the strangely aggressive appearance! (transcribed from back of photo)
