Description: William Osler conducting a demonstration in pathology in the "Green Room" in Philadelphia General Hospital. Osler is shown seated, wearing a bowler hat. This photograph is reproduced in John Welsh Croskey's "History of Blockley: A History of the Philadelphia General Hospital from its Inception, 1731-1928." Croskey gives the date as 1887. Osler was a member of the medical staff at Philadelphia Hospital (also known as Blockley) from 1885 to 1889 and was Chair of Clinical Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania from 1884 to 1889.
