Description: Revere Osler's grave in Dozinghem Cemetery near Flanders, Belgium. This photo shows the original wooden marker, which was later replaced by a rectangular granite headstone. Revere, the only son of William and Grace Revere Osler, was fighting for the Royal Field Artillery when he was wounded in a German attack near Ypres, Belgium. He died of his wounds on August 30, 1917 and was buried in Flanders immediately afterwards. The ceremony was described in the journal of Harvey Cushing, who was present during Revere's final hours and at his funeral.
