Wentzel, Willard Ferdinand. Fifteen letters from Wentzel at Mackenzie River to Roderick Mackenzie, 1807-1824. An electronic transcription. MFTP #0012

this year – and Mr John George McTavish goes into Athabasca where he is to assume the lead in the Place of Mr John McKenzie[.] The outfit is however rather Scanty for want of hands to take in the Goods necessary for the Trade – this has been occasioned by a bungling error of Mr Rocheblave the acting Agent at Fort William – in consequence many Sour faces are made and indeed with just cause at a moment when the opposition seem to be getting down hearted a moment which should be seized with out loss of [time in] order to complete what the Companys Enemies […] wished to do themselves – however every one looks bo[…] and seem not to dread any advantage to their opponents which I heartily wish may turn out so[.] Begging pardon for the forgoing few Lines – I Creave leave to conclude with humblest wishes for Mr & Mrs McKenzie, health & prosperity as also the whole truly amiable family[.] Being with the highest Sensations of Esteem and Gratitude

Dear Sir

Your most Grateful Servt

Willd Ferdd Wentzel
