Dear Sir,

I duly received your justly esteemed Letter dated Terrebonne, and humbly by leave to offer you my most grateful acknowledgements, for the Kind manner in which you was pleasd to mention the generous concern you Still had for the young gentry of Athabasca – who often reflect with sorrow in the days when they were honored by your presence – and it is with the most heartful regret I feel myself obliged to by your Kind indulgence for a postponement of a compliane with your instructions respecting this part of the Country and the unfinished Customs of its inhabitants[.] It is but a few days past, Since I have began to recover from an indisposition from which I have Sensibly Suffered Since the latter end of February, with little or no intermission – and it is with trouble I gather Strength to support myself to write these few lines – in order to Shew my attention and good will – as well as to by your forgiveness for venturing such a Scribbled letter[.] Being always with the utmost difference & respect

Dear Sir

Your much honored Servant

Willd Ferdd Wentzel
