White men are curious they wish to know [.] [T]hey are only three [.] You are a thousand [.] You see their skin is White their hearts are like their Skin[.] [T]hey are good and will do you no harm. civil to them – give them plenty to eat let them be the first and the best served and let your women be Kind to them[.] [N]ever ask any thing from them they are generous and will pay you of themselves – and pleased [.] The White people risk their lives in search and say they never have enough . What use they make of I Know not[.] But they give us good things in – they give us powder and Ball. Our forefathers were not acquainted With White people but we live much better than our forefathers [.] Do your neighbors the Serpent nation live as we do? [N]o. [H]ad they like us white men to furnish Arms we should not carry away so many of their scalps[.] White men are powerful they are like magic[.] I therefore once more entreat for my friends to protect them with indulgence. And you my Son never let the Young chief out of your sight – accompany him wherever he goes[.] Should any misfortune happen to him we can look at a White man without feeling ashamed. I am going this summer to see their great chief at his Fort.
