MFTP #0009 No1 Fall 1805[.] Mr De Rocheblave who succeded Mr Chaboillez in the Red River Department as manager of the Company's concerns did not approve of the Mississourie Trade, but from the measures already taken he was under the necessity of continuing that busness for another Season – and I was appointed to conduct it[.] On the 18th Novr to our great joy our worthy friend Mr LaRocque and his party made their appearance from their visit to the Rocky Mountain[.] It is not necessary I should give the particulars of this Journey as Mr LaRocque has kept an account of it[.] I shall merely observe that he was dis-appointed – Suffered great hardships and taken no less than thirty six days on his return to our Establishment[.] After remaining a Short time at my post – I accompanied him to Head quarters – When Mr De Rocheblave was releived from much anxiety and received him with great kindness[.] The arrival of Mr LaRocque in the Department having rendered my presence less necessary – matters where arranged – and I took my departure the 24th [73] L E G E N D : |
